De Cruce

De Cruce is a site-specific forestlike installation consisting of tree stumps of different species impaled upside down on structural steel beams. Their impalement evokes notionsassociated to uprooting and identity, questionning our  relationship to the non-endemic, the alien, the foreigner. More broadly, the social bond within a community, symbolized in Africa by the palaver tree, is disintegrating with the degradation of nature. Tussore’s work questions the very image of suffering, a contemporary look at the theme of crucifixion and its multiple representations since antiquity. Intimate history and collective memory collide to shake up geographical and social boundaries in a century crossed by the question of nature and the challenges of its preservation.

Sirens

Faced with the immensity of the sea, a human chain silently proceeds. Men and women walk relentlessly but quietly towards the horizon. Guided by their instinct, anonymous beings launch forth to a mysterious fate as if drawn by an irresistible song. Nothing breaks their momentum but an occasional misstep, a crash against the power of the elements or the rush of the waves. And one by one, these faceless bodies disappear in an ever going flow.Solo Performance with Kéwé Lo |  11 min, 2019
